Manhattan through Spiritual, Southern, Single eyes

Quote

O make me Thine forever;
And, should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
Out live my love to Thee.

My Two Worlds: North & South

I know that I've shared before in other posts how my life can cause me to experience a bit of whiplash. I love my home....my roots. But, I also love my new urban life and all it has to offer. On a regular basis I think of this quote from the movie, Sweet Home Alabama, "My life in New York works. But then I come down here... and this fits too."

I unexpectedly got to spend a several days in North Carolina with my family a few weeks ago. My little bro bought a shot gun, so he wanted all of us to go skeet shooting. While I must admit I did grow up on a big farm with a big, awesome family, I wouldn't say we play redneck all that often...but this weekend we did....and I must add...it was a blast!

My dad's new toy!

Yes, I was wearing pearls & sunglasses while shooting and I prefer the riffle to the shotgun. Sorry, Jeffrey.

So then last night I went to a gala. Even after three years in New York, I'm not going to lie, just writing that feels funny to me.  I love being able to go to shows and all the glitz and glamour of New York but sometimes I feel like I'm just pretending :). I went to shows and Operas in Charlotte so this isn't all that different for me but living in New York it just very common for there to be galas, wine & cheese parties, etc. You can never be too dressed up...which I also thoroughly enjoy!

While North Carolina is certainly the place I call home, I sure do love getting dressed up for a good cause with friends in the best city in the world!

**The event I attended last night was on behalf of sex-trafficking victims specifically living in New York and was put on by RESTORE. I attended this event last year as well and it amazing to see all they are accomplishing. Be sure to check out their site and be a part of ending this awful form of slavery.
