Quote

O make me Thine forever;
And, should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
Out live my love to Thee.

New York Marathon: 90 Year Old Runner

The New York Marathon was last weekend (Nov. 2nd). I wanted to share with you about a man I read about who has run the marathon many times. It blew me away. A total of 37,899 participants crossed the finish line. The oldest man was 87 years old and the oldest women 83.

Abe at age 90.Abe Weintraub may be the oldest man in history to take up running. In fact, when he was 87 he ran his 5th NY Marathon. Weintraub, now 90, started running just after his wife died 10 years ago. He had never been much for sports, but after his wife died the very next year, he kept on running, as an antidote to loneliness and loss. The reporter asked him when his wife passed away. ''I can't remember,'' he says, and there is a catch in his voice. ''I always think of her smile, her beautiful smile, and she took that with her.''

One of the fellow runners said, "We need inspiration, and Abe is incredible."
